SubC Imaging Takes Centre Stage at CNA’s Alumni Acclaim Awards

SubC Imaging recently won the prestigious Innovation Award at the inaugural Alumni Acclaim Awards hosted by the College of the North Atlantic (CNA). This event served as a remarkable platform to recognize and celebrate the outstanding achievements and enduring contributions of CNA graduates.

 In her address, Elizabeth Kidd, CNA’s President and CEO, eloquently expressed, “This evening is a tribute to our exceptional alumni. Their journey from the classroom to this podium is an inspiration, not just for all of us here today, but for future students as well. Through dedication to their careers and a willingness to go above and beyond volunteering in their communities, these alumni demonstrate the values that define us as a college.”

From Basement Startup to Award-Winning Innovator

Several SubC Employees, also CNA graduates, were on-hand at the award ceremony.

Established 13 years ago in a basement, SubC Imaging has evolved into a pioneering force in subsea imaging technology. With its headquarters nestled in Clarenville, Newfoundland, the company's cutting-edge solutions have played a pivotal role in revolutionizing marine research, offshore oil and gas, renewable energy, aquaculture, and fisheries on a global scale.

Highlighting its commitment to fostering local talent and contributing to community growth, SubC Imaging has become a hub for CNA graduates, with 10 alumni actively contributing to the company's success. This unique synergy emphasizes the relationship between educational institutions and thriving industries in Newfoundland. 

Fostering Local Talent

During the awards ceremony, several SubC Imaging employees who are also CNA graduates were present to accept the accolade. SubC Imaging CEO, Chad Collette, expressed the company's excitement, stating, “We're thrilled to receive the Innovation Award from CNA. As we pave the way in subsea imaging, we're not just shaping the future of ocean tech in Canada—we're proud to empower CNA graduates who bring top-notch skills. It’s a testament to the quality education at the college.”
