Rayfin Camera Models

Rayfin Benthic 6000m - Sub C Imaging

Rayfin Benthic 6000m

Rayfin Benthic cameras are extremely versatile and are continuously being used in various subsea applications around the world like ocean observatories, autonomous systems, ROV digital stills systems and many more.

Rayfin Coastal 500m - Sub C Imaging

Rayfin Coastal 500m

The Rayfin Coastal uses Powerline Ethernet (PLE) technology offering real-time HD video feed to the surface over twisted pair cable while recording 4K and capturing continuous high-resolution digital stills.

Multi-Purpose Aux Ports

LED Strobe and Lamp

LED Strobe and Lamp

The camera controls the LED as a lamp when recording video or as a strobe by syncing with the exposure time to capture objects in highest detail for digital stills.

Parallel and Line Lasers

Parallel and Line Lasers

Lasers connect to aux ports with TTL control. The MantaRay projects two parallel beams for distance and scale. The Skate projects a precision uniform beam line for image processing.

NMEA Sensors

NMEA Sensors

The camera is a data-logger for NMEA sensors. Each string receives a time-stamp and is logged in parallel with internal camera sensors, video and images.

Pan-Tilts and Controllers

Pan-Tilts and Controllers

The camera ports can drive pant-tilt devices through software direct controls. The aux ports can also be configured as a controller for the camera.

Added Value Features for Versatility

Data Logging

Data Logging

The Rayfin is a data logger -- NMEA sensor data is automatically time stamped and logged in a CSV in real-time. Most common NMEA 0183 sensors are compatible, including system clocks, depth, altimeter, GPS or USBL position, gyro, CTD and others.

Built-in sensors (heading, tilt, roll) Optional depth and altimeter

Built-in sensors (heading, tilt, roll) Optional depth and altimeter

The Rayfin is a real-time platform -- the IMU and optional depth and altimeter is displayed in the control software for decision making while operating the system.

NTP time server synchronization and internal system clock

NTP time server synchronization and internal system clock

The Rayfin allows you to select your local region and time zone or sync with an online or local NTP server. If the Rayfin is offline and not synchronized with NTP, then it will default to its real-time system clock. This time can be set manually.

Autonomous scripting - SubC API

Scripting is a simple software language that, in this case, allows the solution to run autonomously. Scripting uses SubC open-source API which runs inside of the camera. Users write scripts, referencing the SubC API to complete their desired functionality.

Sensor-crop Zoom (5x optical equivalent)

The Rayfin allows you to zoom in and pan around to any part of the preview image without having to physically move the camera. It also supports connection of pan-tilt control software and hardware and can translate its commands into digital PTZ commands.

Real-Time Image Enhancement

Real-time image enhancement is a built-in tool and algorithm that allows your to continue working in poor water conditions. This tool runs in the topside control software and can be enabled with a simple click and also works in Picture-in-Picture mode.

SubC Rayfin-Powered Camera Systems

The Rayfin Benthic integrates with our complete subsea imaging systems used in marine research, ocean science, offshore energy, and other applications.

Subsea Digital Stills

SubC Imaging’s most widely used subsea 4k camera system because it can be easily integrated into ROVs for diverse underwater studies.

Subsea 4K and HD Video Survey

Capable of multiple channels of 4k or HD subsea video recording and overlay, LAN video streaming, event logging, and more.

Autonomous Camera

Designed for subsea camera autonomous deployments, where live video is not possible or required, to collect time-lapse 4k or HD videos and digital stills.

Observatory

Used by observatories for marine observation to collect optical data of subsea locations over an extremely long duration.

Tow Camera System

Mainly used in marine research conducted using smaller vessels working in a shallow-water depth of under 500 meters to collect 4k or HD subsea videos.

"SubC Imaging has pioneered the way subsea images are collected and we couldn’t be happier about this alliance as we embark on our survey expedition."

Stockton Rush, CEO of OceanGate Inc.
